Car park in centre of Zaandam - Inverdan

June 2009 – The centre of Zaandam is in clear need of a facelift. The area is messy; there is little sense of unity. The public space needs an overhaul. Gedempte Gracht and the immediate surroundings have failed to keep up with what shoppers want. A lot of locals go shopping in cities nearby. The ‘Inverdan’ project includes measures to upgrade the entire centre of the city. A completely new car park will be built to improve access for cars.

For more than 75 years, Woud Wormer has been a specialist in foundations, designing, calculating and building dam wall structures. The work consists of pile driving, lifting and installing steel dam walls (sometimes from pontoons) in a wide range of structures: car parks, quay walls, facing, fender walls, dolphins and water defences.Soil conditions can vary quite a lot throughout the Netherlands and so careful calculations based on extensive know-how are required. Woud Wormer supplies professionalism under the most varied conditions.De Boer Staal sells longitudinally welded steel pipes in all sorts of sizes, thicknesses and grades. Stocks amounting to about 5000 tons means that a lot of sizes can be delivered from stock.For the Inverdan car park project in Zaandam, we supplied 100 tons of pipes measuring 610 x 12.0 mm that were welded longitudinally up to a maximum of 32 meters and fitted with end plates by De Boer Snijbedrijf. The pipes were used for making struts which were positioned to separate the dam walls so that the construction work could take place between them.
